Folk Flutes and Native American Flutes

Number of Credit Hours for School of Sound Students
This course is worth 8 hours of electives towards School of Sound elective hours. If you take this course and then decide to join School of Sound at a later date, you will be credited these hours.
Course Description
This 8-hour immersive class introduces participants to the rich traditions of folk flutes, with a special focus on the Native American flute. Through hands-on learning, you will explore the history, cultural significance, and unique sound qualities of these instruments. This course will teach you to use the flute as a tool for personal expression, meditation, and sound healing. Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, you will gain practical skills in flute playing, as well as learn techniques for incorporating these instruments into your healing or musical practice.
- Learn the history and cultural significance of folk flutes and the Native American flute.
- Develop basic and advanced flute-playing techniques, including breath control, finger positioning, and creating melodies.
- Explore the role of the flute in sound healing and how to use its vibrational frequencies to promote relaxation and emotional release.
- Gain confidence in using the flute for personal meditation, group sound baths, or as a tool in your healing practice.
- Create a sacred relationship with your flute, learning how to cleanse and bless the instrument for healing use.
By the end of this course, you will not only have a strong foundation in playing folk and Native American flutes, but also understand their deep spiritual and cultural roots, allowing you to incorporate them into your sound healing toolkit.

Patrick Keddie
A lifelong intuitive, creative, and musician Patrick integrates his training and experience in sound, Reiki, and bodywork to create and empower opportunities for deep healing and rejuvenation with his clients. Employing a compliment of techniques learned from teachers and masters in Bali, Thailand, Maylasia, and throughout North America Patrick strives to offer clients approachable and accessible opportunities for growth and transcendence of suffering. His creative, playful, and novel use of a compliment of healing and melodic instruments from around the world from gongs, bowls, and tuning forks to wind instruments and the voice makes for a dynamic therapeutic experience.Whether creating and exploring new sonic landscapes in his soundbaths, or exploring the power of sound, vibration, and Reiki in private sessions, Patrick is looking forward to sharing his potent blend of personalized care with you!
LOCATION
Location is at the Sound Journey Store in Lincoln (Beamsville), Ontario, Canada L3J 2C8. We will send you the exact address once you are enrolled.
We are 35 minutes from Niagara Falls. 1 hour from both Toronto and from Buffalo NY. We live on a beautiful wine route on the top of the Niagara Escarpment, so if you are planning on travelling, you may with to add a few days to your trip and enjoy our area.

Our workshops typically sell out quickly. Therefore, we can only offer a refund on tickets if we can fill your spot with someone from the waitlist. Please note that if you cancel at the last minute, it may be difficult for us to find a replacement. Additionally, if you purchase a ticket and do not attend, no refund will be available.
