Meet the Team
We are a Husband & Wife team who have lots of experience with music education, sound practitioner skills and entrepreneurship! We are happy to say that we have retired from our hectic 9 to 5 jobs. Now, we have fun educating people and selling the most awesome musical instruments. Operating the Sound Journey Store is a true joy for us. The bonus is - we get to play with all the instruments whenever we are inspired!
Denise
Musician - Educator - Sound Practitioner
With a lifetime immersed in music, I hold a university degree in Theory, Composition, and Music History, and bring over 30 years of experience teaching music in elementary schools. My journey took an exciting turn when I discovered crystal singing bowls, which led me to explore the world of Sound Practitioners. After hundreds of hours of training with leading experts and over 1,000 hours of research, I am dedicated to providing education that cuts through marketing hype, myths, and misinformation. My teaching approach makes complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for non-musicians. Whether you need guidance in selecting the perfect instruments or finding the right sounds for your needs, I’m here to help.
Ivan
The Artist - Master Packer
I am the master packer, making sure your instruments are shipped safely to you. When I am not packing, I love being creative. One of my artistic ventures involves glazing the crystal singing bowls that are not perfect pitch with crushed gemstones to create our Fusion Gemstone Crystal Singing Bowls. Woodworking is another passion of mine, and I thoroughly enjoyed expressing my creativity while crafting the furniture for both the singing bowl room and the gong room.
Rose
The Voice of Reason
Rose is our beloved daughter and in-store assistant at Sound Journey Store. She has helped Denise build out the Art of Crystal Singing Bowls program, meets with clients, and is the maker of our Lindsay Lodge mallets, our signature bunny tail mallets made with loving care.

Office Manager
"Denise's Personal Assistant". Skye wears many hats. You'll find her working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Social Media and Marketing Extraordinaire
Our wonderful social media expert and marketing guru! Sakina makes sure everyone knows about all of the exclusive learning opportunities and incredible instruments Sound Journey Store offers. We love Sakina!
Morgan
Office Assistant
Our newest member to the SJS team! Morgan is our office assistant. Friend of dogs and all things chicken related.
Chester
Old Man Security
Chester is our on-site 24/7 Security Guard. He gets paid in belly rubs, and uses his break time to chase squirrels. He is a happy-yappy Poodle/Schnauzer mix. Chester loves to greet everyone with a bark and a howl, and is happiest when he is exploring nature!
Penny
Puppy Squad
Penny is our bouncy, playful, loveable big spirit! She makes her presence known with her bubbly personality so you are bound to meet her if you visit the Sound Journey Store. Willow and Penny love to wrestle and play, they are the 2 new additions to the Sound Journey Store family.
Willow
Puppy Squad
Willow is our precious puppy with an adorable personality. She is our other newest addition and you can usually find her playing with Penny or cuddling up next to someone, making us melt with her sweet looks. We love our Willow!
Theo
Cat Therapist
Are you feeling stressed? Theo, our 21lb Abyssinian cross, is a big cat with a big presence! You may encounter Theo’s unique meow. He’s one of two friendly cat therapists at the Sound Journey Store.
Felix
Cat Therapist
Felix is our sweet little 11 lb cat therapist alongside Theo. Felix is more coy- he might just come up to you for a pet, especially if you’re sitting down.
Taco and Tula
Window Watchers
We would not let mom (Skye) leave home without us, so we come and sit under the window by mom's computer and bark at all the squirrels going by.
Daisy 2013 - 2022
Senior Groupie
Daisy was our groupie - she loved the sound baths and had to be where all the action is. You can see her in many of our videos, frequently walking into the room and laying down in the middle of a recording.
She was always excited to meet new people when they came to our store. She will be greatly missed. She is our lovable, sweet natured Irish Wolfhound!
