What Exactly Is School Of Sound?
School of Sound Canada is a comprehensive, hands-on training program offering you the opportunity to learn from some of North America's leading teachers in the field of sound. After each class, you will walk away with hands on skills that you can put into your practice.
The Foundational Diploma Program provides you with core content that includes 75 hours of in class learning, plus 44 hours of online learning hours. You then get to choose your area of specialization for an additional 24 hours of elective learning.
The Advanced Diploma Program requires you to continue your learning for an additional 40 hours of electives, specializing in an area of your choice. You may then apply for certification with the International Association of Sound Therapists.
How Do I Know If School of Sound Is Right For Me?

Many schools charge an application fee; instead, we offer an introductory class. This allows you to experience our teaching style and determine if we’re a good fit for you.

Will I learn how to play the instruments?
- School of Sound puts a wide variety of instruments in your hands, teaching you specific techniques to create the most effective sounds from each instrument. Once you complete your 135 hours of Core Module classes, you can then spend either an additional 24 hours or 64 hours focusing in greater detail how to play specific instruments of your choice. By taking the 24 hours of electives, you will graduate with the Foundational Diploma. WIth 64 hours of electives, you will graduate with The Advanced Diploma. You may then apply for certification with the International Association of Sound Therapists.,
- You will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and demonstrations of various instruments, with many opportunities to play a variety of instruments. You will receive guidance on specific techniques needed to produce the most effective sounds from each instrument.

Is your course live, online, or pre-recorded?
School of Sound is a hybrid program utilizing a combination of In-person, Zoom and pre-recorded course material. Within this structure you have two options to choose from:
- In-person training (6 weekends) OR
- 5 day in-person intensive (One Week) plus 6 days by Zoom
Students are also required to complete:
- Additional assigned zoom classes which have a dedicated live support team that will enable you to ask any questions you may have and interact with the class.
- Additional online pre-recorded videos and lectures
- Electives taught In-person, by Zoom and Video

When will I find out the dates and content of my course?
- School of Sound gives you a complete list of all the subjects that you will be learning, including course descriptions, objectives and information about your teacher. You can follow the links here see all the dates and details for in-person option and the zoom option.
- In other courses, you sometimes receive your dates and details after payment has been made.
Verify the details of your learning experience, including the schedule before making a financial investment in yourself.
Can I take elective courses before committing for the full course?
- Absolutely, YES! Elective courses are open to everyone, even people who are not registered in the Diploma program.
- If you do take electives, they can be applied towards your diploma in future.
Start part-time with electives, or full time with our core essentials program.
Do I need to complete my course by a certain date?
- At School of Sound, there is no required end date.
- Core courses must be attended on the specific dates they are offered.
- Electives and assigned course work can be completed at your own pace.
- You will graduate when you submit all of your assignments.
At School of Sound, we understand that responsibilities of our daily lives can interfere with our plans for learning. With that in mind, we have not set a hard date for completion, thus ensuring student graduation with ease and success.
What is my Investment for School of Sound?
The base price for School of Sound is $6,900 CAD. Financing is available for an additional fee. (Electives are extra, based on teachers fees)
First Ten Students Discount Registered Save up to 20%
- Pay $5,500 in full by etransfer and save 20% off the base rate of $6900.
- Pay $5,760 in full by credit card/PayPal and save 16.5% off the base rate.
- Pay in 5 instalments of $1,240 ($6,210) through e-transfer and save 10% off the base price.
- Pay in 5 instalments of $1,290 ($6,450) by credit card/PayPal and save 6.5% off the base price.
Please note: Electives are open to everyone, not just students of School of Sound. You are welcome to take any of the Electives regardless of if you sign up for School of Sound or not.
