How we met

Denise and Wyatt met while attending an intensive 10-day Gong Training with Mike Tamburo, Mitch Nur, and Thomas Orr Anderson in Pennsylvania, hosted by The 9 Ways Academia. During the training, they bonded over their love of sound but also expressed frustration at the vast amount of misinformation spread by unqualified teachers. Over time, they realized that the best way to support future sound practitioners was to create a School of Sound that offered education grounded in science, history, and music, featuring a variety of teachers, each specializing in their field. Thus, School of Sound Canada and School of Sound USA were born.

DENISE BLANEY

With a lifetime immersed in music, I hold a university degree in Theory, Composition, and Music History, and bring over 30 years of experience teaching music in elementary schools. My journey took an exciting turn when I discovered crystal singing bowls, which led me to explore the world of Sound Practitioners. After hundreds of hours of training with leading experts and over 1,000 hours of research, I am dedicated to providing education that cuts through marketing hype, myths, and misinformation. I am the founder of Sound Journey Store. My teaching approach makes complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for non-musicians. Whether you need guidance in selecting the perfect instruments or finding the right sounds for your needs, I’m here to help.

Wyatt Mylius

Wyatt Mylius is a passionate sound healing practitioner and teacher who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his students at Rooted In Sound. With certifications in Peter Hess Sound Therapy, Gong Resonance Therapy, Nada Yoga, and Reiki, Wyatt's approach combines modern scientific principles with ancient healing traditions. He has trained with renowned experts, including Peter Hess, Mitch Nur, Ph.D., Mike Tamburo, Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary and Deepak Chopra, which deeply informs his teachings. Wyatt's classes offer an immersive experience that emphasizes sound's therapeutic potential for healing and personal transformation. His mission is to empower others through sound wellness education, providing tools for self-care, balance, and well-being.Wyatt’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that sound is not just heard but felt, connecting deeply with the body, mind, and spirit. He is known for creating safe, inclusive spaces for his students to explore the transformative power of sound, encouraging personal growth and healing through resonance and vibration.
