Instructor

Denise Blaney of Niagara Singing Bowls.

I have a degree in music focusing theory, composition and children’s eductation.  I taught music in the schools for 27 years.  I have written curriculum and have trained school teachers to teach music.

Two years ago I discovered the crystal singing bowl.  Since then I have done a 72 hour course with Darren Austin Hall, 4 Seasons of the Dig Deeper Series plus countless hours of my own research.  I will be teaching from the perspective of a musician and sound practitioner .

I will be explaining the music scale as it relates to sound healing and showing how to properly play the instruments to get the most effective sound with a focus on the crystal singing bowl. We will explore different ways to set up crystal singing bowls and how to use them to create an effective sound bath.  Many clients have asked how to incorporate other instruments into a sound bath, so I will be showing a few different options.  Participants will get hands on experience with all the instruments in our shop.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

This weekend will be focused on the musical instrumental side of the sound bath.

What to Bring

Participants are encourage to bring their own instruments so that I can better help you get the most out of your set.  If you have a set of bowls. please let me know ahead of time what notes and sizes you have so I can draw up a few placement maps that could work for you. If you don't have instruments, not to worry.  I have lots to share.

Bring a picnic lunch for both days.
You are welcome to purchase a take out dinner of pizza or Chinese food for Saturday if you wish to stay to shop, socialize or stay for a campfire.

Bring comfortable attire for sitting on the floor inside and outside.  A blanket or yoga mat to sit/lay on and or bolster can be handy for both indoors and outdoors.

COVID Protocol

All instruments brought to the workshop must be cleaned prior to attending.

All participants will be wearing masks when indoors. We have room to safely seat 6 bubbles of two people, 6 feet apart.  If you come by yourself, you take up one of the bubbles so attendance will range from 6 to 12 participants.

Video Recording

I would like to present this workshop as an online option in the future, so we will be having a film student recording the two days.  If you do not want to be in the videos, we can arrange that.
